How to complete Visual Archivist

This is the jump from lucky snapshots to images you can shoot on demand and stand behind. The real payoff is a curated portfolio that shows range and a consistent eye: the thing a client or gallery actually judges you on.

1. Learn the exposure triangle (aperture, shutter, ISO) and shoot in manual until the settings come automatically.
2. Pick one genre to go deep on (portrait, street, landscape) instead of a little of everything.
3. Shoot consistently over months; volume is how composition and timing turn into instinct.
4. Build a real edit workflow in Lightroom or Capture One and develop a recognizable look.
5. Select only your 15-25 strongest, most varied frames and assemble a clean portfolio site or PDF.

Tips

• Cut hard: a portfolio is judged by its weakest image, not its best.
• Shoot RAW so you have room to recover highlights and color later.
• Get critique from photographers better than you, not friends who just say 'nice.'

You have a published portfolio of 15+ polished images in a defined style that you could hand to a client or gallery.
