Vintage Harvest

Visit a vineyard and participate in a formal wine-tasting flight.

How to complete Vintage Harvest

A tasting flight is a guided lineup of several wines poured in small amounts so you can compare them side by side, usually walking from light whites to bold reds. Done at the source, it connects the glass to the actual vines and the people who made it.

  1. Book ahead. Most working vineyards require reservations for tastings, especially on weekends
  2. Arrange a designated driver or a tour van before you go; flights add up to real alcohol
  3. Taste in order, lightest to heaviest, and use the spit bucket if you're trying many
  4. Swirl, smell, then sip and let it sit on your tongue. Ask the host what to look for in each pour
  5. Take a quick note or photo of any bottle you loved so you can find it later

Tips

  • Go hungry-ish but not empty; eat something first and use the provided crackers to reset your palate
  • Wear no strong perfume or cologne, it interferes with smelling the wine
  • Midweek visits are quieter and hosts give you more time

What counts as done
