How to complete The Instructor

Teaching the basics of your craft to other people exposes every gap between what you can do and what you can explain. Running even a small workshop proves you understand your skill well enough to transfer it, not just perform it.

1. Pick one narrow foundational skill a beginner could grasp in a single session, not your whole craft
2. Outline a 60-90 minute flow: short demo, a guided exercise, then hands-on practice with feedback
3. Line up the venue and materials, whether a library room, a friend's studio, or a video call
4. Recruit at least a couple of attendees through local groups, a community board, or social posts
5. Run it, walk around helping people individually, and end with a question-and-answer

Tips

• Prepare one finished example and one half-done one so learners see both the goal and the process
• Plan for less content than you think; beginners need time to actually try things
• Bring spare supplies; someone always forgets or breaks something

You led a live session where at least one person learned a foundational skill of your craft from you.
