Screenwriter

Write a complete screenplay or script for a film or theatrical production.
How to complete Screenwriter
Finishing a script means carrying one story all the way through structure, dialogue, and rewrites until it reads as a filmable whole. Most people stall around page 30. Completing a full, correctly formatted draft is the actual milestone.
- Outline first: nail your beats, act breaks, and ending so you're not writing into fog.
- Write in proper format using software like Final Draft, WriterDuet, or the free Fade In.
- Target length on purpose: roughly a page a minute, so ~90-120 for a feature, 22-35 for a half-hour.
- Push through a complete first draft without editing; finishing beats polishing.
- Rewrite at least once after a break, cutting on-the-nose dialogue and dead scenes.
Tips
- Enter late, leave early: start each scene as close to the conflict as you can.
- Do a table read or read it aloud; clunky dialogue exposes itself instantly.
- Standard formatting matters: readers bounce off scripts that look amateur on page one.
What counts as done
A complete, properly formatted screenplay with FADE OUT on the last page: a finished feature, short, or stage play, not an outline.
