How to complete Thermal Recovery

A sauna or steam room uses heat to loosen tight muscles, slow your breathing, and force a stillness that's hard to reach any other way. Beyond feeling good, regular heat exposure carries real circulatory and recovery benefits, but here the aim is simply deep relaxation.

  1. Find a sauna or steam room at a gym, spa, bathhouse, or hotel facility
  2. Drink water beforehand and avoid going in on a full stomach or after alcohol
  3. Sit for 10 to 15 minutes, breathe slowly, and leave the phone outside
  4. Cool down with a cool shower or quiet rest afterward and rehydrate

Tips

  • Step out the moment you feel dizzy or unwell, toughing it out is not the goal
  • Alternating the heat with a cool rinse sharpens the reset and the calm that follows
  • If you're new to it, sit on a towel and keep the first sessions short
