The Group Trip

Coordinate and execute a vacation or weekend getaway with 4 or more people.

How to complete The Group Trip

Getting four or more people to the same place on the same dates is less about the destination and more about taming everyone's competing budgets, schedules, and indecision. Pulling it off proves you can drive a plan to completion when no single person is in charge.

  1. Lock the dates first, before destination or budget: availability kills more group trips than money does
  2. Set a per-person budget range early so nobody books a hotel half the group can't afford
  3. Appoint yourself the single decision-maker for the itinerary; collect input, then just decide
  4. Use one shared expense tracker (Splitwise) and one group chat for logistics only
  5. Book the non-refundable anchor (flights or the house) once everyone has paid their share

Tips

  • Collect money upfront, not 'later': chasing payments after the trip ruins friendships
  • Plan one anchor activity per day and leave the rest open; over-scheduling causes friction
  • Expect one person to flake; build the plan so it survives losing them

What counts as done

You and at least three others completed the trip together and got home, with shared costs settled.
