How to complete The Global Key

A passport is the single document that unlocks international travel, and getting your first one removes the biggest friction between you and any trip abroad. Processing can take weeks, so holding the physical book means you're genuinely ready to go.

1. Check your government's official passport site for the exact form, current fee, and required photo specs
2. Get a compliant passport photo (correct size, plain background, no glasses) from a pharmacy or photo booth that knows the rules
3. Gather proof of citizenship and identity, usually a birth certificate plus a photo ID, and bring photocopies
4. Submit in person or by mail per your country's process and pay the fee, adding expedited service if you have a trip booked
5. Track the application and store the book somewhere safe once it arrives

• Apply well before any planned travel; standard processing often runs four to eight weeks
• Many countries require six months of passport validity beyond your travel dates, so note the expiry
