The First Aid Kit

Purchase and fully stock a home first aid kit with bandages, antiseptics, and basic pain relievers.

How to complete The First Aid Kit

A real kit means the bandage, the antiseptic, and the painkiller are all in one known spot at 2am, not scattered across three drawers. The point is removing the scramble during a minor cut or fever so you treat it immediately instead of improvising.

  1. Start with a container or buy a pre-made base kit, then add to it rather than relying on the minimal contents
  2. Stock the essentials: assorted adhesive bandages, gauze pads, medical tape, antiseptic wipes, antibiotic ointment, tweezers, and scissors
  3. Add medications: ibuprofen or acetaminophen, antihistamine, and any personal prescriptions you'd need in a pinch
  4. Write the date on perishable items and note your doctor and poison-control numbers inside the lid
  5. Store it somewhere everyone in the household knows, not buried in a closet

Tips

  • Keep a smaller duplicate in the car or travel bag where injuries also happen
  • Check it twice a year and toss expired ointments and pills
  • Don't over-buy gadgets you can't use; basics you'll actually reach for beat a 200-piece kit

What counts as done

You have one stocked, in-date kit in a known location containing bandaging, antiseptic, and pain relief at minimum.
