Sun Shield

Add a daily SPF product to your morning routine. Future you looks younger already.

How to complete Sun Shield

UV exposure drives most visible skin aging, and it accumulates through car windows, on cloudy days, and during your ten-minute walk to lunch. A thirty-second morning habit is the cheapest anti-aging and skin cancer intervention with real evidence behind it.

  1. Buy a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher facial sunscreen, and test textures until you find one you do not hate. Texture is what kills this habit.
  2. Put the bottle where you cannot miss it: next to your toothbrush or on top of your moisturizer.
  3. Apply it as the last step of your morning routine, covering face, neck, and ears, using roughly two finger-lengths of product.
  4. Anchor it to an existing habit: teeth brushed, sunscreen on, same order every day.
  5. Hold the streak for two to three weeks, which is about when it stops requiring willpower.

Tips

  • If sunscreen pills under other products or leaves a greasy film, switch formulas (gels and fluids feel lighter) rather than abandoning the habit.
  • A moisturizer with SPF counts, but only if you apply it as generously as you would a sunscreen.
  • Reapply on days with real sun exposure; the morning layer does not survive a beach afternoon.

What counts as done

SPF goes on every morning without a reminder and has for at least a few weeks straight.
