The Cry Release
20 pointsmental health & self-care
Allow yourself to have a full, cathartic cry without feeling shame about it.
Private by default: this achievement never appears on your public profile unless you enable it in settings. Only you see your progress here.
How to complete The Cry Release
Crying is the body's built-in pressure valve, and this is about using it on purpose without judging yourself for it. A real cry lowers stress hormones and resets your nervous system in a way that gritting your teeth never does.
- Set up privacy and a block of time where no one will interrupt or expect you to be fine.
- Trigger it intentionally if needed: a sad song, an old photo, a film scene, or just sitting with the thing you've been avoiding.
- Drop the resistance. Stop fighting the lump in your throat and let the first wave come.
- Let it run its full course instead of cutting it short. A complete cry usually winds down on its own in a few minutes.
- Sit quietly afterward, breathe slowly, and splash cool water on your face.
Tips
- No commentary while it happens. The shame voice ("this is dumb") is exactly what blocks the release.
- A warm shower is a good cover if you live with people and want privacy.
- Feeling drained but lighter afterward is the expected result, not a sign something's wrong.
What counts as done
You let yourself cry fully and finished feeling released rather than ashamed or like you suppressed it.
