The Apology to Self
15 pointsmental health & self-care
Recognize when you've been pushing yourself too hard and physically apologize to your body by resting.
How to complete The Apology to Self
This is catching the moment you've been overriding your body's signals (fatigue, tension, a skipped meal) and choosing to actually stop and rest. The 'apology' part matters: instead of guilt-tripping yourself for needing a break, you acknowledge you pushed too far and make it right with recovery.
- Do a quick body scan and name what you've been ignoring: tight shoulders, gritty eyes, a headache, running on three hours of sleep.
- Say it plainly to yourself, out loud or in your head: 'I pushed you too hard today, and I'm sorry.'
- Cancel or postpone whatever non-essential thing was going to extend the grind.
- Give your body the specific rest it's asking for (real sleep, lying down, food, water), not just a different screen.
Tips
- The apology only counts if you follow it with rest; words without the break is just self-talk.
- Watch for the 'I'll rest after one more thing' loop, that's the exact pattern this achievement interrupts.
- Resentment or snapping at people is often the first sign you've overdrawn before you consciously notice the fatigue.
What counts as done
You recognized you'd overworked yourself, said it kindly to yourself, and actually stopped to rest instead of pushing on.
