Scuba Certified
50 pointstravel & exploration
Complete your official certification and dive in open water with full gear.
How to complete Scuba Certified
An entry-level open-water certification (PADI or SSI) is the license that lets you rent gear and dive anywhere without an instructor holding your hand. It blends classroom theory, pool skills, and real ocean dives, and it opens up a whole layer of the planet most people never see.
- Enroll in an Open Water course with a certified PADI or SSI dive shop, local or online.
- Finish the knowledge sections on pressure, gas, and safety before any water work.
- Master confined-water skills in a pool: mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy control.
- Complete the required open-water dives (usually four), demonstrating each skill at depth.
- Get your certification card issued and logged so dive shops worldwide recognize it.
Tips
- Do theory and pool work at home, then finish the open-water dives on a warm-water trip.
- Equalize your ears early and often on descent; never hold your breath while ascending.
- If you're anxious, ask for a smaller class or a private instructor.
What counts as done
