Positive Affirmation
15 pointsmental health & self-care
Look in the mirror and say one kind, non-sarcastic thing about yourself out loud.
How to complete Positive Affirmation
This is saying one genuinely kind thing about yourself to your own face, out loud, with no joke or hedge attached. The mirror makes it harder and more real than thinking it, which is the whole point, most people deflect compliments even from themselves.
- Stand in front of a mirror somewhere private so you're not performing for anyone.
- Make eye contact with yourself instead of staring at a flaw you want to fix.
- Say one specific, true thing out loud, like 'You handled that hard call well' or 'You're someone people can rely on'.
- Let it land for a second without immediately following it with a 'but' or laughing it off.
Tips
- Specific and true beats grand and generic, 'I'm strong' is harder to believe than naming something you actually did.
- If sarcasm creeps in, stop and say it again straight, the non-sarcastic delivery is the achievement.
- Feeling awkward is normal and doesn't mean you did it wrong.
What counts as done
You looked yourself in the eye and said one sincere, kind thing aloud without undercutting it.
