Mattress Upgrade

Throw out your terrible, sagging 10-year-old mattress and buy a new one. Your spine rejoices.

How to complete Mattress Upgrade

A mattress that's sagged, lumped, or lost its support over a decade quietly wrecks your sleep and your back long before you blame it. Replacing it is one of the highest-return purchases for daily recovery: you spend a third of your life on it.

  1. Confirm it's actually time: visible dips, springs you can feel, or waking up stiffer than when you went to bed.
  2. Decide firmness by sleep position: side sleepers need softer for shoulder/hip relief, back and stomach sleepers need firmer support.
  3. Choose a type: memory foam (contouring, sleeps warm), hybrid (support plus bounce), or latex (firm, durable, cooler).
  4. Buy from a seller with a real sleep trial (90+ nights) and free returns, then actually test it for a few weeks.
  5. Haul the old one out: many retailers remove it free on delivery, or check municipal bulky-waste pickup.

Tips

  • It takes 2-3 weeks for your body to adapt to a new mattress; don't judge it after one night.
  • Ignore the original sticker price, since mattresses are deeply discounted around holiday weekends.
  • Add a mattress protector from day one to keep the warranty valid.

What counts as done

The old mattress is gone and you're sleeping on the new one.
