Laughter Medicine
5 pointsmental health & self-care
Watch or listen to something that makes you laugh out loud for at least 10 minutes.
How to complete Laughter Medicine
A deliberate dose of real, out-loud laughter, not a polite smile at your feed. Ten unbroken minutes of something genuinely funny breaks a stress loop and physically loosens you up faster than most calming techniques.
- Choose something with a track record of making YOU laugh, a specific standup special, sitcom, or comedian, not a random scroll
- Commit to one continuous block of at least 10 minutes instead of clip-hopping
- Watch or listen without a second screen so the jokes actually land
- Let yourself laugh audibly, alone is fine, don't suppress it to stay quiet
- If it isn't landing in two minutes, switch to a different known-funny source rather than forcing it
Tips
- Keep a saved list of go-to clips or specials so you're never hunting when you need this
- Sharing it with someone, even sending and watching together, tends to amplify the laughter
- Avoid doom-scrolling comedy feeds; the dopamine churn isn't the same as a real laugh
What counts as done
You actually laughed out loud, more than once, during a 10-minute stretch of something funny.
