Mastery (C2)

Reach C2 level in a second language.

How to complete Mastery (C2)

C2 is the top rung of the CEFR scale: near-native command where you handle abstract, idiomatic, and specialist language without strain and can reconstruct meaning from almost anything you read or hear. It's far beyond conversational fluency and demands depth most learners never reach.

  1. Honestly place yourself first with a C1/C2 mock exam; C2 study is pointless if your foundation is actually B2
  2. Shift from learning material to living in the language: academic texts, literature, debates, professional content in your field
  3. Attack the gaps C2 tests punish: nuanced register, idiom, fast colloquial speech, and precise written argument
  4. Write and speak at length on complex topics and get correction from a C2-level speaker or teacher
  5. Sit a recognized exam (e.g. CEFR-aligned proficiency test) for an objective, dated result

Tips

  • The jump from C1 to C2 is mostly subtlety and breadth: vocabulary range, cultural reference, and effortless nuance, not new grammar
  • Read widely outside your comfort zone; C2 reading tests assume you handle satire, irony, and dense prose
  • An official certificate makes the achievement verifiable and is often required for academic or professional recognition

What counts as done

You hold a C2 certificate from a recognized exam, or pass a validated C2-level assessment.
