How to complete Fluent (C1)

C1 is advanced proficiency: you follow fast native speech, read demanding texts, and express yourself fluently on complex topics without constantly hunting for words. It's the level where you can work or study in the language, not just travel in it.

1. Take a placement test to find your real starting level and the gap to C1
2. Shift inputs to native material: news, podcasts, novels, and films unsubtitled
3. Build advanced vocabulary in context with sentence mining or spaced repetition
4. Speak weekly with tutors or partners on abstract topics, not just small talk
5. Write regularly and get corrections to sharpen nuance and register
6. Sit a recognized exam (CEFR-aligned, e.g. DALF C1, Goethe C1, CAE) to confirm it

Tips

• At this level passive immersion stalls; force active output through speaking and writing
• Target your weak skill specifically, since one lagging area blocks a true C1

You hold a C1 result on a recognized CEFR exam, or demonstrably work and socialize in the language with ease.
