Farm Stay

Spend at least 48 hours living and working on a farm or agritourism site.

How to complete Farm Stay

Living on a working farm for a couple of days swaps the spectator view of food for hands in the dirt: feeding animals, harvesting, or mucking out before breakfast. Two days is long enough to feel the rhythm of farm work rather than just pose for a photo with a goat.

  1. Find a farm that hosts guests through WWOOF, HelpX, Workaway, or a regional agritourism listing
  2. Confirm what work is expected and what's provided (meals, bed, tools) before booking
  3. Pack sturdy boots, work gloves, and clothes you don't mind ruining
  4. Show up ready for an early start; animals and harvests run on their own schedule
  5. Pitch in on real tasks for the full 48 hours rather than treating it as a hotel

Tips

  • Ask about allergies and physical demands; farm work can be heavy
  • Bring cash for small rural areas with no card readers
  • A short stay in summer or harvest season gives you the most to actually do

What counts as done

You've spent at least 48 hours staying on a farm and done genuine farm chores, not just toured it.
