Equine Rider
15 pointstravel & exploration
Successfully go horseback riding on a trail or in a field.
How to complete Equine Rider
Riding a horse across open ground is different from a controlled arena lesson: you sit a real animal with its own moods over uneven terrain. Beginners can do a guided trail ride with zero experience, and an hour in the saddle teaches balance, trust, and how to read an animal that weighs half a ton.
- Book a guided trail ride at a stable that takes beginners; mention it's your first time so they assign a calm, well-broken horse
- Wear long pants and closed shoes with a small heel; ask for a helmet
- Listen to the safety briefing: how to hold reins, steer, stop, and signal the guide
- Mount from the left, keep heels down and back straight, and let your hips move with the horse's walk
- Stay relaxed and breathe; horses sense tension, so loose shoulders keep them calm
Tips
- Don't wrap reins tightly around your hands; a spooked horse can hurt your fingers
- Walk and trot are plenty for a first ride, skip cantering
- Approach and pass horses from the side where they can see you, never directly behind
What counts as done
You completed a trail or field ride start to finish, dismounting on your own after being out on horseback.
