Blood Type Identified
10 pointsbasic health & wellness
Officially identify and record your ABO blood type and Rh factor.
How to complete Blood Type Identified
A surprising number of adults have no idea what is running through their veins. Knowing your ABO group and Rh factor matters for blood donation, pregnancy planning, and travel to places with limited blood supply, and it is a piece of personal data you only need to establish once.
- Check records you may already have: birth documents, military or surgical records, a previous donor card, or your patient portal from any hospital stay.
- If nothing exists, ask for ABO/Rh typing to be added the next time you get blood drawn; it is a cheap, standard test at any lab.
- Alternatively, donate blood: blood banks type every donor for free and mail or app you the result.
- A home Eldoncard test kit works in about 10 minutes if you want the DIY route.
- Record both parts in your phone's medical ID and somewhere your family can find it: the letter (A, B, AB, O) and the Rh sign.
Tips
- Donating blood is the free way to get typed and knocks out another achievement at the same time.
- Home kits occasionally misread weak Rh variants; a lab result is the authoritative version.
- Your parents' types narrow the possibilities but do not determine yours, so actually test it.
What counts as done
You can state your ABO type and Rh factor and point to an official lab result, donor card, or medical record backing it up.
