Ancient Lore

Visit an archaeological site that is over 1,000 years old.

How to complete Ancient Lore

Standing inside a structure built over a millennium ago collapses the distance between you and people who lived in a completely different world. The goal is a genuinely old archaeological site, ruins, temples, or a buried city, not a museum replica or a building that just looks old.

  1. Choose a verified site older than 1,000 years: the Colosseum, Petra, Tikal, Angkor, Stonehenge, Pompeii, or any pre-1026 ruin
  2. Confirm the date from an official or historical source so you know it clears the thousand-year mark
  3. Book entry ahead for popular sites, as many cap daily visitors or require timed tickets
  4. Go early or late to dodge crowds and harsh midday sun, then walk the site slowly instead of rushing the photo spots

Tips

  • Hire a local guide or download an audio tour; the stones mean far more once you know what happened there
  • Many national archaeological sites are cheaper or free on certain days, check the official site
  • Wear real walking shoes, ancient ground is uneven, dusty, and often unshaded

What counts as done

You physically visited and walked an archaeological site confirmed to be over 1,000 years old, with a ticket stub or dated photo to show for it.
