Rank Advance

Successfully advance to a new belt rank or official tier in your chosen martial art.

How to complete Rank Advance

Earning a new belt or tier is formal recognition that your technique, conditioning, and understanding have measurably improved under your instructor's standards. Unlike a one-off feat, it reflects sustained months of practice and usually a graded test of what you've absorbed.

  1. Confirm your style's exact grading syllabus, the specific techniques, forms, or sparring requirements for the next rank.
  2. Train consistently, typically two or more classes per week, and track which syllabus items still feel shaky.
  3. Drill your weakest required techniques and forms outside of class until they're automatic.
  4. Ask your instructor directly what stands between you and grading eligibility.
  5. Register for the next grading or test and arrive rested and warmed up.

Tips

  • Belts are earned on consistency, attendance often matters as much as raw skill.
  • Film yourself performing forms to catch sloppy details examiners will see.
  • Don't rush, testing before you're ready usually means repeating the test.
