Martial Arts White Belt

Attend your first boxing or martial arts class and learn the basic stance and strikes.

How to complete Martial Arts White Belt

Turning up to your first boxing or martial arts session and drilling the fundamentals: how to stand, guard, and throw a basic strike. It's the entry point that tells you whether the sport is for you.

  1. Book a beginner or intro class; most gyms offer a free or cheap first session.
  2. Bring water, wear comfortable athletic clothes, and arrive early to wrap hands or borrow gloves.
  3. Learn your stance: feet staggered, knees soft, both hands up guarding your chin.
  4. Drill whatever basics the coach gives (jab, cross, or a fundamental kick or block) on pads or in the air.
  5. Ask questions, keep it to form work, and skip full-contact sparring on day one.

Tips

  • Hands up, chin down is the habit that protects you in every striking art.
  • Sore shins and knuckles are normal; don't push through sharp joint pain.
  • You rarely need your own gear for a first class since most gyms lend gloves.

What counts as done

You completed a full class and can show the basic stance plus at least one strike you were taught.
