Handstand Novice
30 pointsfitness & sports
Hold a handstand against a wall for 30 seconds.
How to complete Handstand Novice
A 30-second wall handstand is the entry point to all hand balancing and the moment you get comfortable being upside down. It builds shoulder stability, wrist strength, and the body awareness to hold a straight line. The wall removes the balance problem so you can focus purely on the hold.
- Warm up wrists with rocks and circles on the floor; cold wrists fail fast inverted.
- Start chest-to-wall: walk your feet up the wall and inch hands closer until your body is vertical and stacked.
- Or kick up back-to-wall: hands a hand-span from the wall, kick one leg up so heels rest lightly against it.
- Push the floor away through your shoulders, squeeze glutes and ribs in, and hold rather than sagging into a banana shape.
- Practice short holds daily and stack them toward a single continuous 30 seconds.
Tips
- Always know your exit: cartwheel out sideways or step down one foot at a time so a fall doesn't scare you off.
- Look at the floor between your hands, not at the wall.
- Spread fingers wide and grip the floor to micro-correct balance.
What counts as done
You hold an inverted, mostly straight handstand with feet at the wall for 30 continuous seconds.
