Flexibility Baseline
25 pointsfitness & sports
Successfully touch your toes with straight legs without bending your knees.
How to complete Flexibility Baseline
Reaching your toes with locked knees tests hamstring and lower-back length, not athleticism. Most people fall short because tight hamstrings tilt the pelvis backward, not because their arms are short. Closing that gap usually takes weeks of consistent stretching, and it makes squatting, bending, and lifting noticeably easier.
- Test cold first: stand feet together, hinge at the hips, and note where your fingertips land (shins, ankles, floor).
- Stretch daily with a seated forward fold or standing hamstring stretch, holding 30-45 seconds per rep, 2-3 reps.
- Add a doorway or strap stretch lying on your back, pulling one straight leg toward you to isolate each hamstring.
- Before the real attempt, do 5 minutes of light movement so muscles are warm, then hinge slowly and reach.
- Exhale as you fold and let gravity pull you a little deeper on each breath rather than bouncing.
Tips
- Push your hips back and keep the spine long instead of rounding your upper back to fake the reach.
- Bouncing (ballistic stretching) triggers the muscle to tighten; hold steady instead.
- Warm muscles gain 2-5 cm of reach, so never test cold and judge yourself.
What counts as done
You stand with knees fully straight and touch your toes (or the floor) without bending the knees or rounding into a cheat.
