The Weekend Routine

Spend an entire Saturday together doing absolutely nothing and genuinely enjoying the silence.

How to complete The Weekend Routine

This is the opposite of a packed date day: the achievement is being comfortable doing nothing together without reaching for entertainment or errands to fill the gaps. Unstructured shared time is where a lot of low-key closeness actually happens, and it's surprisingly hard if you're used to always having a plan.

  1. Block the Saturday in advance and decline plans for it, so the day stays genuinely open.
  2. Tidy the obvious chores on Friday so the to-do list doesn't keep pulling at you.
  3. Leave the day unplanned on purpose: no itinerary, no 'we should at least.'
  4. Stay off solo screen-scrolling; reading, slow coffee, a wander or just sitting together all fit the spirit.

Tips

  • Some quiet stretches will feel awkward at first; let them sit instead of rushing to fill them.
  • Low-effort shared activity (cooking, a walk, lying around talking) counts; separately doom-scrolling does not.
  • Don't turn it into a project to optimize; the point is having nowhere to be.

What counts as done

You spent a full Saturday together with no scheduled agenda and felt fine in the quiet rather than restless to do something.
