The Un-Tagged

Remove your tag from unflattering photos on social media where you didn't consent to be seen.

How to complete The Un-Tagged

Removing tags strips your name off photos you didn't agree to be in, cutting how easily they surface on your profile and in search. It's a quick way to take back a slice of how you're represented online.

  1. Search your name or open your tagged/photos-of-you section on each platform
  2. Open each unwanted photo, find the tag, and choose Remove Tag or 'Remove tag from post'
  3. If the image itself is damaging, also use 'Report' or message the poster to ask for removal, since untagging leaves the photo up
  4. Turn on tag review so future tags need your approval before appearing

Tips

  • Untagging hides it from your profile but the photo still exists, so request takedown for anything genuinely harmful
  • Enable tag-review/approval going forward so you're not cleaning up reactively
  • On Facebook and Instagram, check 'Tagged' and the activity log to catch ones you missed

What counts as done

Your tagged-photos view no longer lists the images you removed yourself from, and new tags wait for your approval.
