The Spam Call Blockade
10 pointsdigital hygiene
Enable 'Silence Unknown Callers' to permanently end the era of telemarketing interruptions.
How to complete The Spam Call Blockade
Robocalls and telemarketers dial numbers that aren't in your contacts, so routing unknown callers straight to voicemail kills nearly all of them in one move. Real people who need you will still leave a message or text.
- On iPhone: Settings > Phone > toggle on Silence Unknown Callers
- On Android: Phone app > Settings > Spam and Call Screen, then enable filtering and Caller ID & spam
- Make sure everyone you actually want reaching you is saved as a contact first
- Skim your missed-call and voicemail list now and then so a legit unknown caller doesn't slip past
Tips
- Add your number to the national Do Not Call registry as a second layer
- Expect to miss the occasional real call from a clinic or courier; a quick text back from voicemail covers it
What counts as done
Numbers not in your contacts no longer ring through and land silently in voicemail instead.
