The Donation Drop
10 pointschores & home
Actually drive the bags of purged clothes to a donation center instead of leaving them in your trunk for a month.
How to complete The Donation Drop
The purge is the easy part; the bags surviving in your trunk for weeks is the real failure point. This is about closing the loop so the clothes leave your life and reach someone who needs them.
- Pick a specific drop-off before you leave: Goodwill, Salvation Army, a Buy Nothing pickup, or a clothing bin, and check its hours so you don't arrive to a locked door
- Bag items in sturdy, tied trash bags or boxes so nothing spills in the trunk
- Put the bags by the front door the night before, not in a back room you'll forget
- Tie the errand to a trip you're already making so it costs no extra drive
- Drop them, and if the center hands you a donation receipt, keep it for taxes
Tips
- Only donate clean, wearable items; stained or torn clothing gets thrown out at their cost, so bag those for textile recycling instead
- If motivation is low, schedule a free home pickup from a charity so the clothes physically can't linger
What counts as done
Your trunk and entryway are empty of donation bags and the clothes are in the center's hands.
