5. Count what's left over and check it against the parts list — many kits include a few declared spares.

Tips

• Assemble in the room where the piece will live; built wardrobes don't fit through doorways.
• A powered screwdriver on low torque saves your wrist, but finish cam locks by hand to avoid stripping.
• Get a second person for anything taller than you — tall units rack and snap dowels when tipped upright solo.
