The Apology

Admit you were wrong in a relationship conflict and offer a sincere apology without a 'but'.

How to complete The Apology

A real apology owns the specific thing you did, names the harm, and stops there: no justification, no deflection. The word 'but' quietly erases everything before it, so cutting it out is the entire difficulty and the entire point.

  1. Pin down the specific action you got wrong, not a vague 'sorry for everything.'
  2. Name the actual impact it had on them so they know you understand it.
  3. Say 'I'm sorry' with zero qualifiers attached.
  4. Ask what would help make it right, then follow through on it.
  5. Change the behavior: a repeated apology is just an excuse on a loop.

Tips

  • Cut 'but you also,' 'if you felt,' and 'I only did it because' entirely.
  • Wait until you're both calm; an apology mid-fight rarely registers.
  • Don't expect instant forgiveness in return; that's not the deal.

What counts as done

You apologized for a specific thing, took the blame fully, and added no justification afterward.
