Tab Bankruptcy
10 pointsdigital hygiene
Close the mobile browser that has over 50 tabs open. You are never going to read those old articles.
How to complete Tab Bankruptcy
A wall of stale tabs is a backlog you'll realistically never clear, and it bogs the browser down while nagging you every time you open it. Declaring bankruptcy and wiping them is genuinely freeing, since anything truly worth keeping can be bookmarked in seconds.
- Skim the tab list once and save the three or four pages you honestly intend to revisit.
- Use 'Close All Tabs' rather than swiping them away one at a time.
- Set the browser to auto-close tabs after a week or month so the pile never rebuilds.
- Start one 'read later' home (bookmarks, Pocket, or notes) for future finds.
Tips
- Be honest: a tab open for months is a decision you already made not to read it.
- Default to opening links in the same tab instead of spawning a new one each time.
What counts as done
Your mobile browser is down to a single tab or a clean slate from the 50-plus you had open.
