Subscription Audit
15 pointsdigital hygiene
Review your bank statements and successfully cancel a recurring subscription you no longer use.
How to complete Subscription Audit
Recurring charges are built to be forgotten. This audit catches the gym, streaming tier, or trial that quietly renews while you never touch it. One cancellation usually pays for itself within a month.
- Pull the last 2-3 months of bank and card statements and search for recurring or identical amounts.
- Check your App Store / Google Play subscriptions and PayPal automatic payments: charges often hide there, not on the card.
- For each one, ask whether you actually used it in the last 30 days; if not, mark it to cancel.
- Cancel directly with the provider (deleting the app does not stop billing) and screenshot the confirmation.
Tips
- Annual subscriptions are easiest to forget; sort by amount to surface the big once-a-year hits.
- If you might want it back, set a reminder for the renewal date instead of leaving it active.
- Trials count, so cancel the same day you start one if you're unsure.
What counts as done
At least one unused recurring subscription is cancelled, with a confirmation email or screenshot to show for it.
