How to complete Social Server Exile

Over time you pile up Discord servers, Slack workspaces, and Telegram or WhatsApp groups joined to grab one file, ask one question, or follow a single event, then never opened again. Pruning them cuts notification noise and makes the few communities you actually care about easy to find.

  1. Open each platform's server or group list and scroll the entire thing so nothing stays hidden in archives
  2. For each one ask whether you've opened it in the last three months; if not, leave it
  3. Leave outright (don't just mute) anything tied to a finished event, a single purchase, or a giveaway
  4. For the handful you keep, turn off @everyone pings so they only alert on DMs or direct mentions

Tips

  • Leaving a Discord server is reversible if you save the invite link, so don't agonize over it
  • Hidden groups often sit in WhatsApp and Telegram archived chats; check those too
