How to complete Microphone Revoked

Apps quietly hold onto mic and camera access long after you've stopped using the feature that needed it, and some never needed it at all. An audit cuts off anything that has no business listening or watching and helps you trust the recording indicator dot.

1. Open your OS privacy settings (iOS/macOS: Privacy & Security; Android: Privacy > Permission Manager; Windows: Privacy & security).
2. Open the Microphone list, then the Camera list, and scan which apps are currently allowed.
3. Revoke access for anything unfamiliar, unused, or with no plausible reason to need it (a calculator, a game).
4. Keep it enabled only for apps where you actively use voice or video, like calls and the camera app.

Tips

• On phones, prefer 'Ask Next Time' or 'While Using' over 'Always' so access isn't standing open in the background.
• Watch the indicator dot (orange or green) afterward: if it lights up when you're not using the mic or camera, hunt down which app triggered it.

What counts as done

Both the microphone and camera permission lists show access only for apps you actively use, with unknown or unused apps revoked.
