Do Not Disturb Master

Successfully configure 'Do Not Disturb' or 'Focus' modes to protect your attention.

How to complete Do Not Disturb Master

This is about configuring focus modes so the right things still reach you while everything else stays quiet, not just flipping a blanket mute that you panic-disable. Done well, your phone goes silent on its own during work and sleep.

  1. Open Focus (iPhone) or Do Not Disturb / Modes (Android) and create or edit a focus for work and one for sleep
  2. Add allowed exceptions: starred contacts, repeated calls, and any genuinely urgent apps
  3. Set automation so it triggers on a schedule, location, or when you open certain apps
  4. Test it by sending yourself a normal notification and confirming it stays silent while an allowed one breaks through

Tips

  • Enable 'allow repeated calls' so a real emergency that calls twice still rings
  • Schedule-based or location-based triggers beat manual toggling, which you'll forget
  • Use separate focuses per context so work alerts don't bleed into your evening

What counts as done

At your set times the phone silences routine alerts automatically while your chosen exceptions still come through.
