How to complete Trades Initiate

This is the formal first step into a skilled trade: getting accepted into a registered apprenticeship or trade school where you earn while you learn a craft like plumbing, electrical, or carpentry. It locks in a paid path toward a licensed, in-demand career that doesn't require a four-year degree.

1. Pick one trade and check your state or country's licensing body for which credential it requires before you commit.
2. Search union halls (IBEW, UA, etc.), the registered-apprenticeship database, and local community-college trade programs for open intakes.
3. Meet the entry bar: usually a high-school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and sometimes a basic math or aptitude test.
4. Submit the application during the enrollment window and prepare for an interview or ranked selection.
5. Sign the apprenticeship agreement or enroll in the program once accepted.

Tips

• Union apprenticeships pay you from day one and cover tuition; private trade schools cost money up front, so weigh the debt.
• Intakes are often once or twice a year and fill fast, so apply early and to several programs at once.
• Knock out the aptitude test prep beforehand, especially the algebra section for electrical.
