The 'Someday' Fallacy

Take one item you have been procrastinating on for over a year, and start it TODAY.

How to complete The 'Someday' Fallacy

'Someday' projects rarely stall on difficulty. They stall because no first physical action is ever attached to them. Breaking a year-plus delay with one real small step today proves the wall was momentum, not the task.

  1. Name the single thing you've put off longest and write it down so it stops being vague.
  2. Shrink it to a first step you can finish in 15 minutes today: one call, one form, one page, one box emptied.
  3. Do that step now, before you research the 'right' way or wait for a better moment.
  4. Leave the next step written and visible so tomorrow doesn't restart from zero.

Tips

  • If you can't find a 15-minute version, the step is still too big, so cut it down again.
  • Done beats perfect here; today's goal is motion, not finishing.

What counts as done

The thing you stalled on for over a year has a real first action actually completed today, not just a fresh plan to start it.
