The Business Trip

Successfully complete an international or long-distance trip for professional purposes.

How to complete The Business Trip

This is the jump from doing your job at a desk to representing your employer somewhere far enough that the company pays to send you. The point is travelling on someone else's clock, handling logistics, meetings, and time zones without anything falling apart back home or on the road.

  1. Confirm the purpose and the deliverable before booking: who you're meeting, what decision or outcome the trip must produce
  2. Learn your company's travel and expense policy first, then book flights, hotel, and ground transport inside those limits
  3. Build a working itinerary with meeting times in local time, buffer for delays, and the addresses loaded offline
  4. Pack carry-on only if you can, plus chargers, adapters, and any documents or samples the meetings need
  5. Keep every receipt as you go and file the expense report within a day or two of landing

Tips

  • Screenshot confirmations and store passport, visa, and ID copies in case you lose the originals
  • Block focus time after long flights instead of scheduling a high-stakes meeting straight off the plane
  • Tell key people back home you'll be slow to reply, and set an out-of-office so nothing silently rots

What counts as done

You're done when the trip's work objective is met and your expenses are submitted and reconciled.
