Product Demo Mastery
40 pointscareer & work
Successfully demonstrate a complex product or project to stakeholders or clients.
How to complete Product Demo Mastery
A demo that lands isn't about showing every feature. It's about walking specific people through the problem they care about and showing it solved live. Pulling this off in front of stakeholders or clients proves you understand both the product and your audience.
- Find out who's in the room and what one outcome each cares about, then cut the demo to that
- Script a single narrative: the problem, then the product solving it step by step, ending on the payoff
- Build a clean demo environment with realistic sample data, not lorem-ipsum placeholders
- Rehearse the full run at least twice end to end, including the click path, so there's no fumbling live
- Prepare a fallback (recorded clip or screenshots) in case the live build breaks
- Leave time for questions and have answers ready for the obvious objections
Tips
- Never demo against production or an unstable branch; freeze a known-good build beforehand
- If something breaks, narrate calmly and switch to the backup rather than debugging on screen
- Open with the end result for one minute so they know where you're taking them
What counts as done
You ran the demo for the actual stakeholders and they understood the value or moved the decision forward.
