Credit Score Checked

Check your official credit score and understand what moves it.

How to complete Credit Score Checked

Your credit score quietly sets the price you pay to borrow, from mortgage rates to phone contracts, yet plenty of people have never actually looked at theirs. Checking is free, never hurts the score, and regularly surfaces errors or fraud people had no idea about.

  1. Find your country's official free channel: in the US, annualcreditreport.com for full reports plus your bank or card app for the score itself; in the UK, ClearScore or the bureaus directly; elsewhere, your national credit bureau.
  2. Verify your identity and pull both the score and the full report behind it.
  3. Read every account and inquiry listed, and flag anything you do not recognize immediately.
  4. Learn the five levers: payment history, credit utilization, account age, recent inquiries, and credit mix.
  5. Write down your number and one concrete action that would raise it, such as getting a card balance under 30 percent of its limit.

Tips

  • Checking your own score is a soft inquiry and cannot lower it, ever.
  • Skip the paid score-boost upsells; the free tier tells you everything you need.
  • Different bureaus report different numbers for the same person, which is normal and fine.

What counts as done

You can state your current score, which bureau it came from, and the biggest factor pushing it up or down.
